A powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, destroying thousands of buildings and homes. Over a million people have been affected by this devasting catastrophe. Habitat has worked with Haiti for over 26 years and will continue to serve the people there by helping to rebuild. Habitat is addressing immediate relief efforts and long-term shelter solutions for low-income families. The response is threefold: cleanup, shelter kits and safe, transitional shelter. Immediate response to the disaster will include restoring capacity to Habitat Haiti. Welcome Our 2010 Families! |

The Family Selection & Nurture Committee has approved 13 new Partner Families to build homes with Cincinnati Habitat in 2010. The next step in the process is to match these families with available build sites. Each approved family is offered a maximum of two build sites. If they would decline both, then they are removed from the list of approved families and would need to reapply the next time applications are accepted. We want to congratulate these new
Partner Families and welcome them to Cincinnati Habitat as they
begin the first part of their journey. We look forward to an
incredible build season with these families. Amy

Now that families have been selected
and the build season is rapidly approaching, we are actively
recruiting volunteers who would like to serve as Family
Advocates. These are individuals who work with a Partner
Family one-on-one during what can sometimes be a confusing and maybe
even a bit overwhelming process of building and buying a home.
