Eastside Coalition #29 Home

The Eastside Coalition of Churches will build their 29th Habitat home in the eastern side of Cincinnati.  The Eastside Coalition has been working in partnership with Cincinnati Habitat since its founding in 1986, making them Cincinnati Habitat’s oldest building group.  Eastside will be building this home with Shirley Peterson and her 3 children and 1 grandchild.  
Thrivent Builds Home #4/Eastside Coalition #30 Home

Cincinnati Habitat is very excited to be working with the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to build two more homes in the Cincinnati community as part of a nationwide effort to create additional homeownership opportunities with low-income families.  The leadership for the Thrivent Builds–East home will be provided by the Eastside Coalition of Churches who will be overseeing the building of their 30th home for Cincinnati Habitat.  Thrivent and Eastside will be partnering with Tiffany Farnes & Bryan Maxberry as they build this home for themselves and their 5 children.

The Shalom Coalition of Churches will build their 12th Habitat home in the Cincinnati area in 2008. Cincinnati Habitat is grateful to the continued dedication and support from these churches and volunteers.  Roxanne & Delando Little and their son will be partnering with the Shalom Coalition as Cincinnati Habitat builds its 20th home in Walnut Hills.
Thrivent Builds Home #5/Westfed #20 Home

Cincinnati Habitat is very excited to be working with the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to build two more homes in the Cincinnati community as part of a nationwide effort to create additional homeownership opportunities with low-income families.  The leadership for the Thrivent Builds–West home will be provided by the Westfed Coalition of Churches who will be overseeing the building of their 20th home for Cincinnati Habitat.  Thrivent and Westfed will be partnering with Sonnetta Jackson and her daughter on this home which involves a new model being introduced by Cincinnati Habitat this year.

Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity will be partnering with the Cincinnati Christian University (CCU) for the first time in 2008.  The leadership for this home will be provided by the Westfed Coalition who is no stranger to building with area universities.  Joining the Westfed Coalition and CCU this year will be Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity's Young Professionals who hold the honor of being the first Young Professionals group in the nation to sponsor a home with Habitat for Humanity (2007) and will be building their 2nd house in 2008.

Fredric's will be partnering with Cincinnnati Habitat on their 5th home this year.  It has been a pleasure to partner with a group that is so rooted in sustainability and caring for the earth and one another.  We look forward to partnering on their third rehab in 2008.  Joining us for the first time in this  partnership will be the Ward Family Foundation.  This foundation promotes home ownership for formerly homeless families.  The Ward Family Foundation works with local homeless shelters to identify families that are interested in and ready to become home owners.  Xavier University students will also once again be donating their time and funds to join with us in making new again what is now ravaged.

The first national Home Builders Blitz, a project involving professional builders in the construction of Habitat homes, was held in June 2006 and resulted in more than 400 new Habitat homes in communities across the country.  Habitat will reprise the Home Builders Blitz the week of May 31 to June 7, 2008, with "Plans for Ameirca," which has a goal to increase builder participation to all 50 states and the District of Columbia.  Cincinnati Habitat is proud to partner with Jack H. Wieland Builders, Inc. and area sub-contractors and suppliers in building two homes this year during the blitz build week.
Regency Centers #4/Church of the Redeemer #2 Home

This home will be the 4th Habitat home that Regency Centers has sponsored in the Madisonville area. Joining Regency again this year will be the Church of the Redeemer on their 2nd home.  Joining Regency and Redeemer will be Arstrong Chapel and Greater Liberty, both on-going supporters of Cincinnati Habitat's work.  All four groups will work side-by-side with Robin Ushery and her 2 children and nephew as they build a place to call "home."

Cincinnati Habitat is proud to partner with Ferguson Enterprises on one of three handicap-accessible homes that are to be built this year.  This house design will be our basic Kremer model with some minor revisions made to make it handicap accessible and will be built with a family that has a physically disabled member.  This is a landmark project that will set precedence for other Habitat affiliates around the nation in reviewing the viability of building for persons with disabilities.

This home will be Cincinnati Habitat's 5th Community Build.  The Community Builds represent the heart of Cincinnati Habitat.  It brings together corporations, foundations, churches, organizations and individuals from all walks of life.  They donate their money, time and labor and, through the process, build a sense of community and a home, giving another Cincinnati family the opportunity to realize the dream of home ownership.  How appropriate that the Community Build will mark Cincinnati Habitat's 150th home to be built!
